Song of the Day #22: "Friend [acoustic]"

::

Since I figured it out on ukulele I've been all giddy about "Friend" which has been around now since March or so. I think it's gonna become an Alphabet song but in the meantime, I did a bathtub version.

Meanwhile, I finally had someone explain to me what anti-folk is, and why people have been calling me it; although I still don't exactly understand why it's called anti-folk, I have at least accepted it as a sensible description of the songs I make by myself. So that's okay.

Lyrics
I want you to be my friend because you're pretty
Not only are you pretty, but you're pretty funny, too
I want you to be my friend so I'll feel pretty
And I'll tell funny stories like you do

I want you to be my friend because you're silly
But clever-silly, witty, and cutesy-silly too
I want you to be my friend so I'll feel silly
And tell silly stories like you do

But all I can say is stuff that you've said
But stupid instead, and awkward and bad
And all I can feel is that you are real
And I am unreal and stupid and sad

I need you to be my friend because you're pretty
Not only are you pretty, but you're pretty funny, too
I want you to be my friend so I'll feel pretty
And I'll tell funny stories like you do
Yes I'll tell funny stories like you do

  1. hi Judith!
What's anti-folk? I can guess, and I can search the internet for an answer, but I thought I'd hear what you say, if you do say.
I love Friend; it's my Favorite Sneaky Mister song, and it's really neat in bathtub version.
I thought following you would notify me of new blogs through e-mail but it doesn't. Am I missing something... do I need to adjust my settings? Do I need my own blogspot instead of logging in with my google account?
Is blogspot not one of those fancy convenient websites people use these days with fancy notifications of comments, new blogs, etc.?
